Arts Radar in association with B Sharp present the world premiere of

Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk
Written by Robert Couch
Adapted from the novella by Nikolai Leskov

She married for money, she killed for love.

In the dead of a bitterly cold night a wealthy merchant is urgently called to work, leaving his restless young wife unattended. Bored and lonely, Katerina seeks out the farmhand to entertain her and the night escalates into a wild frenzy of lust, obsession, murder and betrayal.

Joseph Couch directs the world premiere of this innovative retelling of Nikolai Leskov’s 1865 novella. Set against the backdrop of an opulent yet oppressive Russia, Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk is a radical revision of Macbeth with the femme fatale at the centre. Crackling with intrigue, this is thrilling contemporary theatre at its best.
